WikiApiary is a wiki that lists and monitors thousands of wikis running MediaWiki, along with wiki farms, extensions and skins. WikiApiary was started on 2012-12-21.

WikiApiary (old)

WikiApiary had been down from time to time in 2022, the longest outage lasted for several months, despite being brought back up several times by the maintainers.

The maintainers took action on 2023-03-05. They placed a "We haven't died" message on the main page linking to a mailing list post explaining the downtime. Finally, the site is back online on 2023-03-22, though still somewhat slow, with a second mailing list post noting that they have updated MediaWiki but are still looking into database performance issues.

WikiApiary had been in read-only mode since 2023-05-20 due to a Semantic MediaWiki issue. Finally, the maintainers decided to take WikiApiary offline to rebuild the site on 2023-12-23.

The old site has been online again since 2026-03-27.

WikiApiary (new)

The new WikiApiary was created in 2024. However, development had quickly stalled.

Status

As of 2016^[update], it has metadata for 25,000 wikis.

It is online, its MediaWiki XML was saved on 2015. The metadata for monitored sites is not published yet.
