MotiFake is scheduled to shut down in March 31, 2018--either at the very beginng of that day or the very end. MotiFake is a set of websites known as the "MotiNetwork"; said websites hosted a bunch of images: especially demotivational posters but also other inane images. In 5 May 2013 it had 33 different categories that images would be posted in;[1] in 30 March 2018 it has 7 different categories for images.[2] The 7 categories were at stupidhumans.org, politifake.org, outthereufo.com, motifake.com, militarylulz.com, failepicfail.com, and demotivationalposters.org -- which are all dead now.
Some time between 2013 and 2018, MotiFake applied a large amount of JPEG compression to all of their images: resulting in a noticeable loss in quality. Compare the following:
- http://archive.is/20130505220441/http://www.motifake.com/ (good quality) and http://archive.is/20180330091047/http://www.motifake.com/ (bad quality)
- http://archive.is/20160907223554/http://img.4plebs.org/boards/pol/image/1471/81/1471811087311.jpg (good quality) and http://archive.is/20180330094620/http://www.motifake.com/disappointment-virgins-family-guy-allah-disappointment-demotivational-posters-80114.html (bad quality)
The website's owner's email or other contact was not found, so the entire website's content was not able to be uploaded to http://archive.org. (The website's owner might do that in the future, hopefully.)
It died at April 3, 2018 (at 15:34:06 in the Denver time zone, I think).
