Zippyshare.com was a temporary file sharing website. (It was "permanent" if uploads/file had enough activity.) In 2023-03-19, it was announced that it would shut down in 2023-03-31. In a post titled "Inofrmation about the closure of the project" it was stated that the site would shut down due to being an old/old-style website, being less popular, being ad-blocked, and not being able to pay for stuff like electricity.

www.zippyshare.com is excluded from the Wayback Machine, so https://archive.ph/www.zippyshare.com is one source which can be used to discover files and accounts such as https://www.zippyshare.com/jillem (182 pages of uploads, all alive as of writing this).

Zippyshare began in 2006. ZippyShare "outlived many similar websites, such as RapidShare, Hotfile, and Megaupload."[1]

The DPoS project retrieved several terabytes of data, although this was likely not the entirety of the site as there was no index to use - rather, other websites were scraped for URLs (like search engines, social media, etc).

How to download

Zippyshare loads direct download links (DDLs) via JavaScript. As a result, grab-site can't download DDLs (binary files or the payload files). Therefore, use grab-site to download many webpages. Next check the CDX file and/or wpull.log for URLs ending in "/file.html". Then make a list of all of those URLs that look like that and save it to a .txt file. Use this python script -- https://github.com/mansuf/zippyshare-downloader -- to download the DDLs via "/home/ubuntu/.local/bin/zippyshare-dl downloadlist.txt" or run "download.sh":

#!/bin/bash
zippyshare-dl https://www.zippyshare.com/v/12345678/file.html
zippyshare-dl https://www.zippyshare.com/v/90123456/file.html
zippyshare-dl https://www.zippyshare.com/v/78901234/file.html

It seems to be the case that download pages linked from account pages (e.g., www.zippyshare.com/jillem) are also JavaScript/AJAX-loaded; this is another annoyance.
