RootsWeb is a genealogical site and community that has been around since the 80s, some of their mailing lists have messages going back to at least 1980.
In 2000 Ancestry.com LLC (then MyFamily.com, Inc.) acquired RootsWeb.
Mailing Lists
For many years (from the early 2000s) the list archives were on lists.rootsweb.com. Ca. early 2019, mailinglists.rootsweb.com, apparently the same server as lists.rootsweb.com under a second domain, began being linked to by the main rootsweb.com navigation for the lists of mailing list; however, it still linked back to lists.rootsweb.com for the list archives themselves.
