YTMND (You're The Man Now Dog) is a humour website featuring user-created web pages in the form of a tiled image and an audio track. The site makes use of flash to load the images and play the audio, but there is a HTML5-based system for devices without Flash that seems to work on Ipads but not Iphones. It was launched in 2001 and contains lots of significant online culture and history.
The owner, Max Goldberg, has stated that it is no longer cost-effective to host the website and it will eventually be taken offline, and he has reached out to Archive Team to preserve it.
YTMND finally went offline around May 12, 2019. Max Goldberg announced on his Patreon May 17 that an "outpouring of support" had convinced him to save the site, and over the next several months an HTML5 player was introduced and the database was salvaged.
The website completed its relaunch on March 31, 2020, with all previously hosted sites available.
Archiving
The owner kindly offered to give us the (anonymized) database and the content, but it never got sent to us. The storage cost would have been about 1.7 TB for the content, and about 180 GB for the MySQL database.
A Warrior job to scrape the site was conducted in late June 2018.
