Voat is a Reddit alternative with lesser strict rules of communication.
It was launched as “WhoaVerse” in 2014, and was renamed to “Voat” in December of that year.

Since mid-2019, Voat requires a login for some pages to be viewed.
However, an independent search engine, https://searchvoat.co/, can be accessed without login.
