Kinja was a blog hosting platform originally launched by Gizmodo. After Gizmodo's acquisition in 2019 and a meltdown at Deadspin causing user protests at Kinja, it was abruptly announced in early November 2019 that all user blogs would be purged 'in the coming weeks'.[1] Following public backlash, this was postponed and then reannounced in November 2020.[2]. Deletion commenced ca 2020-11-16.
Technically, the platform still exists as the backend of official G/O Media sites Kotaku and The Root as of 2025-05-27.
