Google Maps is a digital world map captured and served by Google.

Information

Historical versions of Google Maps satellite images and StreetView imagery are currently accessible through the Google Earth software.

Metadata

Google Maps contains a lot of metadata about physical locations that would be useful to archive, including organisations and their websites and when the organisations are permanently closed. This could be useful to discover websites that are likely to shut down soon. DPoS could be used to save this data and send outlinks to ArchiveBot, Y and or URLs. jo72/brutecat has already archived 300m+ Google Map location IDs and metadata, as well as ~2 billion Google Maps reviews, released the code and intended to upload the data to a google_maps_locations IA item.
