Daum Agora was a forum where users could post their opinions on politics and society or submit a petition. Posts to the Agora has historically caused debates about freedom of the press in South Korea with prosecution over a post on Agora.
On December 3, 2018, Kakao, the operator of Daum, announced that they would disable new posts and comments by January 7, 2019. The backup feature would allow the post author to back up their own posts, but their comments would be lost in the backup. Their annoucement noted they would purge the data by April 1, 2019.
