Battle of the Bits is a website where users (or BotBrs, as the website calls them) can upload songs (of which a good portion are MOD tracker files) for battles, or timed competitions between different users, similar to game jams.

There is also an experience system present, with medals given to those getting the best scores on different formats.

Users may belong to different classes, depending on which stat (Chipist, Mixist, etc) a user has most experience points upon leveling up.

It also contains a forum, as well as a lyceum (basically a fancy wiki).

This site is fairly important to archive, since it's 20 years old (dating back to 2005) and has over 10000 battles.

API

Battle of the Bits has a public API where most of the website's archivable data is obtainable.

Battles are enumerated as ascending integers.

Lyceum

The lyceum is BotB's knowledge hub - it contains info about battles, classes, the forums, and pretty much every single thing there is to know about the website.

IRC

Most of BotB's main communication is done on IRC.
