AnandTech is a tech news, reviews, and benchmarks website started in April 1997 by Anand Lal Shimpi. Its coverage and views catered to hardware and technology enthusiasts, primarily in the PC space, but also went on to cover events and announcements through the rise of the smartphone and tablet industries, including the ARM architecture. Anand left the site to take a job at Apple in August 2014, naming Ryan Smith as his replacement editor-in-chief which he served as until the site's closure 10 years later. Soon after, Anandtech was sold to Purch Group in December 2014, and Purch was later acquired by magazine/periodical conglomerate Future plc in 2018.

Shutdown

Reports began circulating in late August 2024 that AnandTech's remaining staff were laid off and that a shutdown was imminent. This was confirmed by Ryan Smith on August 30, 2024, stating that "After over 27 years of covering the wide – and wild – word of computing hardware, today is AnandTech’s final day of publication". Although there will be no more articles published, the site's forum will remain online.
