In late April 2024, the ArchiveTeam Reddit archives were made undownloadable on the IA, due to people using them to train AIs.

How do you know this was the reason? Perhaps there were too many copyright complaints so it became too much of a liability? Bear (talk) 16:40, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

*How* I knew I cannot specifically answer - these things are discussed frequently on IRC, I can't point to a particular conversation. And no, it was AI. See the timing - if there were going to be legal complaints, I think it would have been by Reddit against us/the IA for letting people bypass the bridge whose toll was a great new "revenue source" for them.
