Virgin Media plc is a company which provides fixed and mobile telephone, television and broadband internet services to businesses and consumers in the United Kingdom.[1] They are discontinuing their personal web space service on April 28, 2016.[2]

A brief history

Cable TV started its roll out in the 90's at various places in the UK under different local names. By the late 90's NTL and Telewest were merging all the smaller cable companies around to offer more services. Available at the time was dialup internet but eventually cable internet appeared. Both companies offered email/web and other online related services. More info on the respective wiki's.

Virgin.net merged with NTL and Telewest before Virgin Media Purchased them.

Now it's all under one (limited) national company. Virgin Media: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Media

Since there has been several merges over the time, there's still various legacy websites still lingering about.

Virgin Media is discontinuing their personal web space service on April 28, 2016.[2]

Retiring Personal Web Space

"Sadly, from 28 April 2016, we’ll no longer be able to offer the Webspace service."[2]
