The Geograph Britain and Ireland project aims to collect geographically representative photographs and information for every square kilometre of Great Britain and Ireland.

Stats: 11,823 contributors have submitted 3,524,221 images covering 269,157 grid squares, or 81.1% of the total.

Archives and mirrors

• The Internet Archive has a mirror of all Geograph data and images.
• The British Library's UK Web Archive initiative preserves snapshots of Geograph from time for its historical significance.
• A substantial number of the images (a little less than half) have been copied to the Wikimedia Commons.

All photographs and descriptions are under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share-Alike licence, so it's likely that the images have been copied to many other places, too.
