: At the moment, Matrix bridges are banned on hackint due to past privacy issues (e.g. people seeing messages even though they didn't join a particular channel). They are however currently testing a new version of the bridge as far as I know, so it may become possible again in the near future. At that point, we can evaluate whether we want to do that for the AT channels. If it works reliably, it's probably fine, but if not, we'll likely want to wait until it does to avoid splintering. – [[User:JustAnotherArchivist|JustAnotherArchivist]] ([[User talk:JustAnotherArchivist|talk]]) 16:45, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

Banned?

I woke up this morning and saw this in my IRC logs:

[07:47:04] Connecting to [irc.efnet.org] on port 6667
[07:47:04] Connection to host at [217.17.33.10] established
[07:47:12] Closing Link: (*** Banned (cache))
[07:47:12] Disconnected

How'd I get banned from EFNET? It could have been the reconnect feature in my IRC client, but I'm not sure.--Start 09:49, 10 February 2015 (EST)

It might be a different kind of problem, but until the solution arrives, let me share my experience that I've often had trouble connecting to servers I've been directed to from the central irc.efnet.org. So I always connect to irc.choopa.net, with which I've never had problems so far. bzc6p (talk) 15:52, 10 February 2015 (EST)
Connecting directly to irc.shaw.ca works for me. --Start 16:02, 10 February 2015 (EST)

Freenode ownership change

So, this Gist is being shared around a bunch of different places today: https://gist.github.com/joepie91/df80d8d36cd9d1bde46ba018af497409 What does the described ownership change mean for the channels listed on this page? --User:Cooljeanius, 2021-05-19

Absolutely nothing because we never used Freenode in the first place. JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 17:44, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Bridging with matrix?

Is there a bridge to matrix protocol? I really don't like my IP published in the chat.Hasional (talk) 05:40, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

At the moment, Matrix bridges are banned on hackint due to past privacy issues (e.g. people seeing messages even though they didn't join a particular channel). They are however currently testing a new version of the bridge as far as I know, so it may become possible again in the near future. At that point, we can evaluate whether we want to do that for the AT channels. If it works reliably, it's probably fine, but if not, we'll likely want to wait until it does to avoid splintering. – JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 16:45, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
Do you have an active asynchronous community? I have problems and cannot stay in the IRC for extended periods of time. I guess this discussion page works but minor things are nice to ask in the channel and check back later for an answer.Hasional (talk) 14:19, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
No, we don't. We don't really use talk pages here on the wiki either. We do normally have public logs of the main IRC channels, so that would probably work for you. Unfortunately, they aren't accessible currently, but that should get fixed soon. – JustAnotherArchivist (talk) 21:52, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
