The 13th of October 2018 was the day when ArchiveBot job:3mbdq5f4cdnf9qh11zvtyr1hn managed to join an IRC channel on synIRC.

This amazing feat was made possible by CGI:IRC, a web IRC client which does not require any JavaScript for basic functionality. A simple HTTP request is all that's needed to join, and the response to that request simply never ends and keeps producing lines from the channel (messages, joins, etc.) or an HTML comment to keep the connection from dying. Sending messages to the channel works through a form in another frame.
