Don Gorelick is known for creating one of the largest personal archives of television recordings ever assembled. From 1987 to 2014, he recorded over 24,000 VHS tapes, capturing a vast array of programming including news broadcasts, talk shows, sitcoms, movie reviews, and music videos. His project began shortly after leaving the U.S. Navy and involved a meticulous system using 12 VCRs running continuously. Each tape was carefully labeled and cataloged, forming what is now known as the Don Gorelick Television Collection.

This archive serves as a cultural time capsule, preserving iconic programs. The collection offers a rare and comprehensive glimpse into the media landscape of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. It has attracted interest from archivists and media historians, and efforts are underway to digitize and share the content online. Portions of the collection are available through the Internet Archive and Patreon.
