Dante Melgarejo, a Chilean worker based in Sweden, became a key figure in preserving the audio legacy of Escucha Chile, a clandestine radio program that broadcasted news and solidarity messages to Chile during Pinochet's dictatorship.
Over the years, Melgarejo recorded and archived hundreds of these shortwave transmissions, safeguarding vital testimonies and historical context. In a major act of cultural preservation, he donated his collection to the Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional de Chile, enabling public access and research.
