Blog.hu allows users to create their own blogs, there is 2 revenue models.
- Ad free: This disallows the user to advertise on their blog and blog.hu wont place ads on the blog, this blog wont be featured on the mainpage, or on index.hu's mainpage
- Partial user ads: This lets the user setup their setup an ad provider on their blog but blog.hu will only load the user's ad part of the time and loads their own otherwise.[1]

One of the reason the site gained popularity was it shares ownership with index.hu the then once most viewed news site in Hungary and blog entries could be featured on main page of index.hu. This way individual bloggers gain huge popularity. Many now Hungarian journalist started their career writing on blog.hu gaining popularity and getting hired or founding their own news site. Since 2020 this can be paid for and highly devalued.
