Patreon is a website and service which allows subscribers ("patrons") to make regular payments to users who offer some ongoing or recurring service in return. Often that means access to digital works hosted and distributed on Patreon's website itself.
Details
The usefulness for archival varies wildly. Content may be:
- hosted on other subscription services,
- hosted publicly (e.g. comics on social media),
- actually hosted mainly elsewhere, e.g. via Dropbox or Google Drive links.
