MSN Messenger, later rebranded as Windows Live Messenger, was Microsoft's instant messaging platform active from 1999 to 2012 and fully shut down in 2017. It has been displaced by Skype.

Some information about about the MSN servers and protocols can be found on ismsndeadyet.com.

Nostalgic fans have revived the client and servers as Escargot.
